Dear Sirs,

Enclosed you will find sketch of Wm Towns, Tippecanoe Twp. William A. Towns was born in Stark Co. Ohio, March 12, 1842. His father was a farmer, and when the subject of this sketch was twelve years old, he with his parents emigrated to this state, settled in Kosciusko Co. buying a farm there of 160 acres, and also one of 160 in Marshall Co. In August of the same year the mother was taken leaving the family alone with the hardships of a new country. He remained with his father until the age of twenty seven, was then united in marriage with Miss Emily Boid 1867, and in 1869 moved to the farm in Marshall Co. where only a small house of two rooms was erected, accompanied by only a few cleared patches consisting of perhaps 19 acres. At the time of his father's death in 1882 he bought out the six heirs of which he is the seventh and youngest, now owning the farm having cleared all but 25 acres which is yet timbered. In the year 1889 the house was erected which he now lives in costing 25,000 dollars, and in the year 1900 fifty nine joining acres were bought where a tenant has resided.

A family of seven children was reared which are all living and married except one daughter which as yet remains at home. Wm. Towns has in 1907 property in the little village of Etna Green Kosciusko Co. and expects soon to retire from the farm life.

His Mother maden name was Sarah Hoopegardner.
