    1. [S168] Bas-Rhin, France, Civil and Religious Records.
4 December 1764, Waldersbach: Marriage of Chretien, son of Jean Aeschbacher, Swiss, farmer of Menaville near Salm, and of his wife Madeline Doubs, and Marie Madeline, daughter of the late Didier Spenle of Solbach and his late wife Madeline Banzet. The groom is of the reformed religion and the bride is of the Confession of Augsburg, and it is stipulated that male children will be raised as the former and female children as the latter.
Can't locate Menaville, Principante de Salm. Confession of Augsburg means Lutheran, and reformed religion probably means Calvinist or Anabaptist--both appear distinctly in contemporary records.
