- [S146] My First Fourteen Years, My First Fourteen Years.
My grandmother's grandmother on my mother's side was Susana Ditson. I don't know where she came from but I do know she lived in Maryland after she married Andrew Boyd. He was of Irish descent. They had slaves. Their daughter, Emily Boyd, married William Towns on April 6, 1867. His parents were Robert Towns and Sarah Hoppengardner. My grandmother, Zeruah Towns, was born to William and Emily Towns on March 24, 1870. She is still living. Next March she will be eighty-two years old. She married Marvin Shively in 1890.
My great grandmother's father on my mother's side was French. It is said that he fought in Napoleon's army. His wife came here from Bern, Switzerland. They both settled in Ohio. Their daughter, Anna Slaybaugh, married George Shively. He was of German descent. Their son, Marvin Shively, was born in 1867. He died in 1925 when my mother was seventeen years old.
Around 1800 three Weybright brothers came to this country from Germany. A few years later the three families of the brothers settled in three different parts of this country. One settled in Maryland, one in Ohio, and the other farther west. Martin, the one that settled in Ohio, was my father's great-great-grandfather. His son, John Weybright, married Johannah Lindiman. She came from Germany in 1826 when she was ten years old. Their son, William Weybright, married Susanna Geyer. Her father, John Geyer, was of Irish descent.
Dora Weybright, my grandmother, was the daughter of William and Susanna Weybright. She was born in 1875. In the late 1890's she married John C Stout. I think he was of German descent. He died in August 1944. Their son, Russel Stout, is my father.
Original source would be verbal family history, so caution.
