Cornelius Emily Boid was born in Belmont County, Ohio, November 9, 1850. She came to Indiana with her parents when three years old and spent her girlhood days in the vicinity of' Stony Point. On April 16, 1868, she was united in marriage to William A. Towns, who preceded her in death 13 years ago. They moved to the farm near Etna Green, where' they lived 53 years and reared a family of seven children. The oldest, Cyrus, died in infancy. Mrs. Franklin Tea, a daughter, and Robert N. Towns, a son, have gone on before. Four daughters, Mrs. Zeruah Shively, Mrs. F. M. Carles, Mrs. F. J. Knepper and Mrs. C. E. Kannard, all living within a radius of ten miles of Etna Green; a son, Harley Towns, of Warsaw, 20 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren remain to mourn her departure. She was a member of the Christian Church of Etna Green for more than 60 years and a firm believer of its teachings. She passed from this life, June 29, 1934, aged 83 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
